We would like to give advance notice of an exciting opportunity for consultant appointment in Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2019.

Newcastle is the leading high volume regional vascular centre in the North East and one of the top 6 units in the UK for complex aortic activity. We are significantly expanding our consultant workforce in 2019 to support regional reconfiguration and enhance our consultant endovascular surgeon workforce capability for our  new state-of-the-art hybrid theatre suite. We successfully bid in 2018 for £3.1 million to achieve the highest functioning hybrid theatre in the UK, in addition to our existing 2 hybrid angio suites. Work on the theatre hybrid complex starts in March 2019, with completion date 24 June 2019.
We will be advertising 2 posts in February, shortlisting in March and interviewing in April 2019. The timing of interviews has been specifically arranged such that any vascular trainee obtaining CCT in October 2019 is eligible to apply. We have a track record in supporting and encouraging successful candidates to undergo fellowships prior to commencing their substantive consultant posts and we are keen to support successful candidates in leading and developing their own subspecialty interests within our unit. Newcastle has a superb team with great colleagues, is the only teaching hospital in the UK to achieve outstanding at CQC 2018 and is part of the top-10 trust Shelford group for academic and clinical output.  The surrounding areas of Newcastle and Northumberland offer an excellent and affordable quality of life, together with outstanding schools.
