The only UK meeting dedicated to sclerotherapy CPD/CME will take place on Tuesday 19th May at the Eton College Rowing Centre, Dorney Lake near Windsor.

Phlebologists, vascular surgeons and nurses, aesthetics practitioners and dermatologists with an interest in treating varicose veins and telangiectases will meet to learn, share best practice and network.

The event will include presentations from industry specialists, live foam and microsclerotherapy demonstrations, poster presentations, optional Basic Life Support refresher and a sponsor exhibition. The early bird discount ends on 5th April, and Rouleaux Club members are eligible for a discount – email hilary.furber@bassclerotherapy.com for details.

Programme highlights include an address by Prof.Bruce Campbell, one of the UK’s best-known vein experts, on “Lessons learned in a lifetime of treating veins”.  He has led major research studies on varicose vein treatments and authored over 200 papers, and his book for patients “Understanding Varicose Veins” has been reprinted several times.  Mr Manj Gohel, consultant vascular surgeon, lecturer and researcher, will discuss the relationships between vein diameter, clinical severity and quality of life, and Mr Zola Mzimba, Consultant Vascular Surgeon, will compare the merits of the latest available imaging devices. Other topics include compression after sclerotherapy and management of pelvic congestion syndrome.

Poster presentations are invited, and the winning author will win an educational grant to cover the cost of attending the conference, up to the value of £250.

Northern Ireland Consultant Vascular Surgeon Mr Zola Mzimba, who trained in foam and microsclerotherapy 8 years ago, says “Vascular trainees receive little or no exposure to sclerotherapy during training, and yet it is an invaluable skill set. Microsclerotherapy for telangiectases and reticular veins, often given as an adjunct to treatment for variscosities, undoubtedly delivers better cosmetic outcomes, and this is demanded in the independent sector. Indeed, it is advantageous for a trainee to gain experience in sclerotherapy before moving into independent practice, and the British Association of Sclerotherapists is a vital source of information.”
